Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has shipped over six million copies since its release in September, Konami has announced.
According to the company’s latest financial report, the six million figure includes downloads and those shipped to retailers. The figure helped lead a 37.5% increase in revenue for Konami’s digital entertainment segment. The increase was also aided by things like strong global sales of Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card games, and the success of its smartphone title Jikkyou Pawafuru Puroyakyu, which has been downloaded 19 million times.
The shipped units also factored into Konami’s increased total operating profit, which jumped to $143.7 million for the first three fiscal quarters, up from $88.3 million previously. The digital entertainment segment was the highest revenue source for Konami, followed by health and fitness.
